Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

#1 What are your ambitions for your writing career?

My ambitions for my writing career include several different things.  First, I would like to write many books that lead people out of hopeless situations into the knowledge of Christ.  Second, I would like to write books, e-books, articles, and blogs that reach people around the world.  Lastly, I would like to expand my writing in such a way that I am free to write full-time.

#2 What genre are your books and what draws you to this genre?

My books fit best into the genre of Christian Non-fiction.  As a writer, it is imperative that I spread the gospel of Jesus Christ in a way that is liberating for everyday people.  I simply write for everyday people who are doing their best to navigate the ups and downs of life.  This genre is appealing to me because it is practical and be easily applied to my real life.

#3 How much research do you do?

I spend quite a bit of time researching.  My main research source is the Bible.  I study the Bible, I study Christian books, I study, people, I study my own life.  I research daily to determine what it is that keeps us from living the lives that God has for each of us.

#4 When did you decide to become a writer?

The interesting thing is that I did not really decide to become a writer.  I am an educator.  That is all I have ever known and all I have ever wanted to be.  When we are still before the Father, and seek His plans for our lives, He will tell us who we are to become.  In my private time with God, on many occassions, I sensed God telling me that I was a writer.  I surrendered my will to His and began to write.

#5 Do you write full-time or part-time?

Currently, I write part-time, but full-time writing is definately on the horizon for me.

#6 Do you have a special time to write or how is your day structured?

I do most of my writing in the evenings and on the weekends.  However, I always keep pen and paper close by during the day in case a thought, idea, or concept comes to me.

#7 Do you read much and if so, who are your favorite authors?

I love to read!  The problem is that I just do not have enough time to dedicate to it.  I always try to read a book(s) that pertains to the area of life in which I am currently in.  For example, if I am praying about a deeper prayer life, then I will read a book or two on prayer.  If I am praying to be prepared for marriage, then I will read a book on biblical courtship.  Some of my favorite authors are Pastor Bob Sorge, Dr. Cindy Trimm,  Lysa Terkeurst, Bishop T.D. Jakes, Eric & Leslie Ludy, and Michelle McKinney Hammond just to name a few.  Quite honestly, I could go on and on!

#8 How are you publishing this book and why?

My first book, Chasing Contentment is being published through this amazing publishing company called Holy Fire Publishing.  Thus far, it has truly been a great experience.  However, my number one reason for choosing this company is because of their goal/purpose to only publish books that promote Jesus Christ.  That's my kind of company!

#9 What is your favorite motivational phrase?

We may encounter many defeats but we must not be defeated.

-Maya Angelou

#10 Where can you see yourself in 5 years time?

Well, let's see...In five years, I see myself married with a family, but still very active in ministry.  I see myself writing full-time by then, traveling, speaking, and teaching to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ!
