We must accept the fact that peace is authentic, available, and attainable.
There are so many clichés when it comes to peace, but do we truly know what it is like? It can be very difficult to actually decipher the true meaning of peace. In the world today, it is easy to question its authenticity.
You may desperately want tranquility and calm in your daily lives, but all you experience is noise and commotion. You probably pray for peace of mind, but constantly battle with agitations and distress. I am sure you really try to live in harmony, but continually face conflict. What is a person to do? When will it all end?
What actually leads to the peace that we are so desperately searching for?
If you are anything like me, always feeling out of control can leave you so worn out. It is so tiresome to feel uncomfortable, uneasy, and unsettled all of the time.
Isaiah 48:18 (NLT) reads oh, that you had listened to my commands! Then you would have had peace flowing like a gentle river and righteousness rolling over you like waves in the sea.
Wait! Read the scripture again. The secret to experiencing peace like a river is right there. If you read too quickly, then you may have missed it. The secret is...
While peace is indeed a promised gift to you and I, we must do our part if we are going to obtain it. There is a condition to receive the peace we so desperately need. We learn that peace like a river flows when we listen to His commands.
When we are experiencing hard times, obedience is usually the last thing we are concerned about. Perhaps, it should be the first. The scripture teaches, making it quite clear, that obedience is a prerequisite for peace. Once we have honored His commands, then the peace will come. In fact, it will be like a river flooding our souls.
Close your eyes for a moment and picture a gentle flowing river. Can you see it? Now, imagine that peacefully moving through your soul and entire life. That is exactly what we need! Let Him heal your soul!
I want to hear from YOU!
Question: What is it that is keeping you from experiencing God's peace?
Your Sister in Christ,
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Teach us to obey your commands, so that we can receive your peace that floods our souls like a river. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
