What struggles are you facing today? Is it your finances, family, or job? Perhaps it is your health, broken relationships, or unanswered prayers? Whatever it may be, one thing is certain, struggle affects us all. As much as we would like to avoid these situations, struggle is a significant part of our lives.
That is not to suggest that God wants us stuck and struggling our whole lives. I do not believe that is accurate at all. Jesus came that we might have life more abundantly! Your life has the potential to be overflowing with the goodness of God. However, struggle will frequently manifest throughout seasons of our lives. For some, the struggle will last longer than others.
We find the significance of struggle in Romans 5:3. We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us--they help us learn to be patient. Romans 5:3 TLB So, the way I see it, struggle must be like eating vegetables. You don't really enjoy it, but it's really good for you. All jokes aside, struggle is significant to you and I because it teaches us patience. Here are a few additional reasons that struggle is significant in our lives:
1. Struggle matures us.- The struggles in our lives cause us to rely on God even more. In turn, we learn to trust Him more because we quickly realize that He is our only source of relief.
2. Struggle equips us.- Life is full of challenges. Struggle equips you and I to endure hardships as they come. There are many things that we would not be able to handle, in our lives, had we not experienced some struggles.
3. Struggle humbles us.- Humility is developed during struggle. During the difficult times, we are stretched to humble ourselves before God. The pressure encourages you and I to surrender to the Will of God because we are reminded of our limitations.
Just know that even while you experience struggles, God loves you more than you can even imagine. Struggle is significant because it creates an environment that will develop your character and soul. Hang on in there today. Let Him heal your soul!
